Following the spectacular and thrilling Strapless Freestyle and Wave competitions, the action continued at the Land Rover Kitesurf World Cup Sylt on Thursday. The Kitesurf artists took center stage for the Best Trick Supersession, where only the best aerial maneuver counted towards the score. International judges assessed the technical difficulty, style, and height of each performance. With winds reaching nearly force five, the world-class athletes once again delivered an impressive show for the crowds at Brandenburg Beach.
Capucine Delannoy remained unbeatable in the women’s division, just as she had on the first two days of competition. The 15-year-old French prodigy showcased a series of spectacular tricks, ultimately winning with a fantastically executed “One Foot Frontroll.” “The wind wasn’t as strong today as in previous days, but I was still able to show my best tricks. It was a great competition, and I had a lot of fun on the North Sea,” said the winner. Second and third places went to her compatriot Clemence Derrien and Sweden’s Johanna-Catharina Edin, respectively. The best German competitor was Giulia Böhmerle from Lübeck, finishing in fifth place.
Current World Champion Airton Cozzolino also ignited the North Sea with a fireworks display of tricks. The Cape Verde native secured the victory with a near-perfect “Big Flat 3” and a score of 9.43 out of a possible 10 points. “I caught a perfect wave as a ramp and was able to execute the trick with a lot of power,” said Airton Cozzolino after his success. The second and third podium spots went to Matchu Lopes from Spain and France’s Camille Delannoy. 16-year-old Keanu Merten from Saarbrücken was again the strongest German athlete in the Best Trick Contest. The Spaniard by choice once again showed his great potential, narrowly missing out on a spot in the final run.
